Domus Arctica Foundation, Kelo

Kelo is a large student dormitory of the Domus Arctica Foundation in Rovaniemi. The property is a modern and energy-efficient wooden apartment building, which was quickly built from 102 apartment modules and also paid attention to energy efficiency. The property was completed and commissioned in August 2019.

Kelo’s energy solution is a wastewater heat recovery system that enhances the property’s district heating system. With the Ecowec hybrid exchanger, the property’s domestic hot water is passively preheated before the district heat exchanger, which reduces the amount of district heating energy purchased and the property’s heating costs. The Ecowec hybrid exchanger is a maintenance-free and long-lasting heat exchanger that does not require cleaning or electricity to operate.
